Rajgir is located in the south of Nalanda at a distance of 100 kms from patna & 14 Kms from Nalanda. Rajgir is surrounded by the hills and lush green forests in a valley. Rajgir has got the name from Raj Griha meaning the abode of the king. Rajgir was also known as Rajagriha.

Rajgir place is a sacred pilgrimage centre for both the Buddhists and Jains as it is associated with the Buddha and Lord Mahavir who spent here.
