Sree Kalahasti : An ancient temple built in the period of Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar kingdom is atleast about 900 years old. This temple is situated in a town called Kalahasti of chittoor district of andhra pradesh which is about 36 kms from Trimuala tirupati & is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is also associated with Rahu & ketu.
This temple is aslo said to be One of the Pancha Bhoota temples of Shiva Kalahasti enshrines the Vayu Lingam - representing the element wind - of the five elements of Agni, Vaayu, Aakasam, Jalam and Prithvi.
A huge gopuram is built by Krishnadevaraya, a few feet away from the entrance to the temple. The entrance to the temple is crowned with a smaller tower. There is an underground Ganapati shrine in the outer prakaram, while in the innermost prakaram are the shrines of Shiva and Parvati.
