Bandipur National Park is situated at a distance of 80 Kms from Mysore & 220 Kms from Bangalore on Mysore otty highway in Karnataka. Bandipur park spreads to an area of about 875 Sq kms. Bandipur became one of the first India's Tiger Reserves in 1973 & In 1974, under the Wildlife Protection Act, Bandipur was notified as a National Park.
The place is also home to a large number of animals like Elephants, Hornbill, Sambar, Wild Dog, Giant Squirrel, Deer, and Partridges. There are also a few endangered species including Four Horned Antelope, Panther, Sloth Bear, Python, Mouse Deer, Pea Fowl and many more. Besides animals tourists can see some exotic trees including Bamboo, Sandalwood, Teak, Honne and Mathi.
