About Calicut or Kozhikode

Calicut also known as Kozhikode in local language is a beautiful costal city in northern part of kerala state. The city came into prominence in the World History after Portuguese traveler Vasco Da Gama landed on the Kappakkadavu Beach in this city on his discovery of the sea route from Europe to India in 1498.

Calicut is located at a distance of 200 kms from Cochin and 230 kms from Mangalore. Calicut is also famous for its backwaters toursim.
