Dispur is the capital city of Assam is located at a distance of 10 Kms from Guwahati. Dispur was given the capital city title when Meghalaya was carved out of Assam in 1973.

Dispur one of the smallest capital cities in the world with population of just 1700. Dispur is also known for its largest tea production.
